Day one: ARRIVAL

Day two: TUNIS – OLD TOWN (MEDINA) – BARDO

Visit of the famous national museum of Bardo

After lunch, we’ll take a walk in the old town (Medina)

We’ll visit Koranic schools, family tombs, mausoleum sheltering the tomb of a noble mansions of the Mediterranean basin.

You can then stroll at your own pace and enjoy a cup of tea in one of the cafés on Avenue Bourguiba.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day three: CARTHAGE – SIDI BOU SAÏD

Visit of Carthage. Who does not know Cato's statement in the Roman Senate during the Punic Wars: "Delenda est Carthago! (we must destroy Carthage!)? Without forgetting Gustave Flaubert and his evocation of Salambô (1862), and all the other writers who have revived exceptional characters, sometimes mythical: Magon, Apuleius, Saint Augustine ...

Lunch at the Goulette.

At the end of the day we’ll take a walk in the charming village of Sidi Bou Saïd: delight of white and blue, streets lined with orange trees, violet shine of the bougainvilliers, a favorite stay of painters, musicians and poets.

Day four: DOUGGA - KERKOUANE

After breakfast, we take the road towards Dougga through beautiful landscapes. Dougga is the most spectacular and best preserved of the Roman cities of Tunisia. The theater dominates a beautiful undulating countryside where it is not uncommon to meet a shepherd and his sheep. In this bucolic paradise, exceptional vestiges: the forum with the capitol whose pediment presents the apotheosis of Antoninus Pius, the arch of Severus Alexander and the temple of Caelestis lost in olive trees several centuries old, the Libyco- Punic, etc.

Day five: SOUSSE - KAIROUAN - EL JEM

Breakfast buffet.

Our first destination is EL JEM: the Thysdrus of the Romans, whose main resource was the production of oil. The immense amphitheater, built at the end of the 2nd century on the model of the Colosseum of Rome has retained its three floors and could accommodate 35,000 spectators. The museum possesses mosaic treasures that will enable us to take stock of the Romanisation of Africa and Villa Africa. This villa discovered in 1990 was restored by the team of Professor Jean Claude Golvin.

Then we go to Sousse, the pearl of the Tunisian coast. We will pass in front of the Great Mosque. We will visit the ribat and the museum with its rich collections of the Punic and Roman periods, the medina with its fortress and the fishing port before going after lunch to the first Muslim city founded in North Africa, Kairouan: Of the holy cities of the Muslim world.

We will discover the basin of the Aghlabids, the huge open-air reservoir of the 9th century, the great mosque, Djamaa-Sidi- Okba, one of the oldest places of prayer of Islam, the mosque of Barbier, built around Of the sepulture of a companion of the prophet, is a pure masterpiece of Muslim art. Walk in the Medina and visit the souks.Return to Tunis. Goodbye dinner + Gift distribution.

Day six: DEPARTURE
