Day 1: ARRIVAL IN TRIPOLI

Meeting at the airport then Transfer to the hotel. We start to explore on foot the historic Medina, the old city of Tunis. We visit then the Dar Ben Abdallah Museum... Dinner at a restaurant which features Tunisian food accompanied by traditional folk music.

Day 2 : TUNIS – CARTHAGE – SIDI BOU SAID

Among the Punic and  Roman sites to be visited today include the theatre, amphitheatre and Antonine baths of Carthage as well as early Christian ruins. We then travel up the coast to Sidi Bou Said picturesque . After lunch we visit the Basilica of St Cyprian. Dinner & Overnight in Tunis.

Day 3 : TUNIS – SOUSSE – EL DJEM  - SFAX

Early-morning departure to Sousse the pearl of the tunisian sahel. Visit to the archaeological  museum and walled old city. After Lunch departure to  El-Jem, and visit the third century Roman amphitheatre of Thysdrus. We climb to the highest tiers of the seating and explore the subterranean chambers before making a visit to the site of nearby Roman villas. Dinner and overnight in Sfax, commercial main city in Tunisia.

Day 4 : SFAX – GABES – MATMATA – DJERBA

Leaving Sfax to Gabes where we stop at nice oasis, and a short visit to the city,  we continue to the Berber  villages of Matmata and Haddej. Our eastward route then takes us to the island of Lotos : Djerba. short visits to the main city Houmet Souk. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.

Day 5 : DJERBA – SABRATHA – TRIPOLI

Early morning departure from the hotel ; Arrival at Ras Djedir- Visa formalities, hit the road to Sabratha , Today you will be taken to visit Sabratha. Amongst all the coastal sites, Sabratha stands out as the most beautiful. A World Heritage Site, Sabratha was founded by the Canaanites in the 6th-century B.C., and ruled by Carthage, Phoenicia, Numedia and then by Rome  in 46 B.C. The most spectacular site in Sabratha is the Theatre, probably built during the reign of the Emperor Commodus (161-192 A.D.), with its three-story backdrop of columns. It is still used today as an arena for theatre and concerts. Other monuments and areas of interest include the Temple of Liber Pater, the Basilica of Justinian,the Capitolium, the Temple of Serapis, the Temple of Hercules and the Temple of Isis.. Driving to Tripoli, first visit . Dinner and overnight .

Day 6 : TRIPOLI - LEPTIS MAGNA -  VILLA SILLINE – TRIPOLI

The highlight of any journey to Libya is visiting the renowned World Heritage Site of Leptis Magna, world famous as the best-preserved and most extensive Roman city in the Mediterranean. Originally a Berber settlement, then made into a trading port by the Phoenicians, it was conquered in the 6th-century B.C. under the aegis of Carthage.

You’ll see the Severan Arch, erected in honor of the Emperor’s visit, and the marble and granite paneled Hadrianic Baths, the largest outside of Rome. Discover the partially covered nymphaeum, a shrine dedicated to the worship of nymphs, the Palaestra or Sports Ground, and a pair of massive forums. You’ll also see the amazingly detailed Severan Basilica, the Theatre, and the Circus and Amphitheatre where spectacles were held for the amusement of the populace A whole day devoted to the visit of the sumptuous African Rome of the emperor Septimus Severus. Lunch on site then, visit to the amphitheatre, and the port. we end by Villa Silline. and return to Tripoli. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7 : TRIPOLI

The medina in Tripoli is one of the classical sites of the Mediterranean. Three great gates gave access to the town

The Red Castle or fortress, Al-Saraya Al-Hamra, occupies a site known to be pre-Roman in the east quadrant of the old city. It  still dominates the skyline of Tripoli .

The entrance to Jamahiriya Museum is on Green Square, next to the castle. Built in consultation with UNESCO, the National Antiquity Museum deals with the archaeology and ancient history of Libya. It covers Phoenician, Greek and Roman periods and has an expanding collection on the Islamic period.

Visit to the nice archeological  museum, then the Marcus Aurelius Arch , the Gorgi Mosque, the Medina. Lunch in old city. Then we continue to the Algeria square and Italian colonial part of the city, the arcades where we can sip a delicious tea with mint etc... Dînner and overnight .

Day 8 : DEPARTURE

Transfer to the airport, check in assistance, flight back home.
